TIME

LOCATION

We will start at 9:30 AM at the Thayer Preserve in Ithaca, then travel individually to the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve in West Danby.

Both preserves are located in Tompkins County. See directions below.

REGISTRATION

Registration is required and will open on Tuesday, August 11. This trip is limited to 20 people.

DESCRIPTION

Join geologist George Thomas on this trip to visit two iconic Finger Lakes Land Trust nature preserves—the Thayer Preserve and the Lindsay Parson Biodiversity Preserve—to view different aspects of the local geology. George will provide an introduction to the geologic origins and setting of each of these preserves and their relationship to the overall geologic development of the Finger Lakes region.

We will walk down to and along the creek at the Thayer preserve and then drive individually to the Lindsay-Parsons Preserve where we will walk approximately one half-mile on maintained trails to the main overlook. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking on wet and slippery rocks.
