Description

Join us for a basic trail maintenance training session at our largest nature preserve! We will discuss proper pruning and trimming techniques, non-native invasive species identification and removal, and a host of other trail-related work topics. After a brief overview and demonstration, we will break into groups for various trail maintenance projects. This is also an opportunity to learn about our Southern Tier Friends Group, to assist at other preserves in the region.

Tools and work gloves will be provided but feel free to bring a hand saw, loppers, or gloves. FLLT will provide some water and light snacks but we recommended bringing a water bottle and sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Please do not wear open-toed shoes.

* The Steege Hill Preserve is home to timber rattlesnakes which are active this time of year. We will do our best to be very cautious but please be forewarned if you have a fear of snakes.

Directions
