Wesley Hill Nature Preserve—Ontario County
Join the Rochester Area Mycological Association at the Wesley Hill Nature Preserve for a guided walk to celebrate National Mushroom Month! We’ll seek out elusive members of Kingdom Fungi and discuss their diverse ecological roles and how they can help (or hinder) our conservation efforts. Wesley Hill is host to white pine, hemlock, and oak habitats including some old growth that we’ll explore in search of Fantastical Fungi.
Meet at the Gulick Road entrance! From Honeoye, take Rt. 20A east to East Lake Rd. Follow East Lake Rd. south for a short distance and then turn left on County Rd. 33. Continue a short distance and turn right on Pinewood Hill Rd. Follow Pinewood Hill, then Gulick Road south toward Cumming Nature Center, for a total of 6.4 miles to the preserve entrance, on the right.
Except in the case of extreme weather, walks go rain or shine. Please check this web page for updates.
Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
