TIME

LOCATION

Canandaigua Vista Nature Preserve—Canandaigua, Ontario County

REGISTRATION

Registration is required and this trip is limited to 20 people. Please email info@fllt.org to register, providing your name and email address.

DESCRIPTION

Check out the FLLT’s newest nature preserve and observe the full Snow Moon rising over Canandaigua Lake. Moonrise will coincide with sunset on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, and provide us with a great opportunity to observe a natural wonder and be home in time for dinner! The hike will be led by FLLT Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman and will leave the parking area promptly at 5:00 p.m. After observing the moonrise, you will have the option to return to your vehicle or continue on a moderate one-mile hike to listen for creatures of the night. Feel free to bring your camera or binoculars for observation. Headlamps or flashlights are also suggested, but hopefully, the moon will light our way. The hike will go on as planned if it is too cloudy.

Please dress appropriately for the weather. If there is snow, please wear proper footwear—gaiters and boots are recommended.  If there is no snow and temperatures are above freezing, be prepared for mud.

DIRECTIONS

From Canandaigua, take Bristol Street to State Route 21 South for approx. 6 miles. Turn right onto Jones Road and drive one half-mile to find the parking area on the left. Please park in the parking area and not along the road.

POLICIES

Please check this web page for updates. For weather-related inquiries or driving instructions, please contact the Land Trust at info@fllt.org.

Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
