DESCRIPTION
Join us for a walk to learn the basics of birding from Jason Gorman, FLLT Nature Preserve Manager, followed by a discovery of butterflies and moths with local lepidopterist Colleen Wolpert. Jason’s walk will focus on identifying birds by size, habitat, and distinct markings, as well as glimpses into the plants, trees, and geologic features of the preserve. Colleen will then teach us about how to identify local butterflies and moths and where and when to find them. Bring binoculars if you have them.
DIRECTIONS
From Ithaca, take East Shore Drive for six miles to turn left on NY-34B N/Ridge Road (at the intersection at Rogue’s Harbor). After four miles, the preserve will be on the left.
POLICIES
Except in the case of extreme weather, walks go rain or shine. Please check this web page for updates.
Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
