Description

Lindsay-Parsons is one of the Land Trust’s largest and most unique preserves.  This flagship preserve is comprised of 13 different parcels which we have acquired over the years.  The main focus of this volunteer work day will be to replace the decking on a bridge that spans the Cayuga Inlet.  All levels of experience are welcome and we may also work on other projects that could include: refreshing paint blazes, brush management, and trail maintenance.  Please note that a moderate hike will be required to access the work site.

A work session will be held from 2:00-4:30 pm, followed by a social hour from 4:30-5:30 – light refreshments and snacks will be provided!  Please wear sturdy footwear, and clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.  We will provide tools and work gloves, but feel free to bring your own if you have a favorite pair.

Directions

The Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve is located in West Danby, about 8 miles away from Ithaca. Take Rt. 13 south from Ithaca, then take Rt. 34/96 south to West Danby. Most of the preserve is located on the east side of the highway, across from Sylvan Drive and the West Danby Fire Station. Ample parking is available about 1/2 mile south of Sylvan Drive, on the east side of the road. Entrance to the parking lot is at the top of a hill, opposite a house and barn.
