2:00 PM—5:30 PM
Kingsbury Woods Conservation Area—Jersey Hill Rd., town of Danby, Tompkins County
Please RSVP with Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman by emailing email@example.com or calling 607-275-9487.
Join staff and volunteers on the first Friday of every month, from May through October, for nature preserve management activities and socializing. If you are looking for a good reason to take off a half day on a Friday, this is it! Work sessions will be held from 2:00-4:30 pm, followed by a social hour from 4:30-5:30. Tools, work gloves, light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Nestled near the headwaters of Lick Brook, the Kingsbury Woods Conservation Area features a quiet one mile hiking trail and a rapidly evolving forest. In 2011, a tornado ripped through a portion of the preserve, but now the woods are recovering and filled with many species of young trees. Join us to help refresh and stabilize sections of the trail, improve creek crossings, and build a small footbridge. If time allows, we may begin removing a dilapidated old cabin.
If you are from the Ithaca area, and are interested in carpooling, please contact Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (607) 275-9487.
From Ithaca, go south on Rt. 96B, past Ithaca College. About 2 miles past the college, make a right onto Comfort Road. Go 1.6 miles and turn right on Jersey Hill Rd. At the split in the road, continue to follow Jersey Hill Rd (a left). Go a short distance and park in the parking area on the right, just before the bridge; the trail is on the left opposite the parking area.
