Steege Hill Nature Preserve—town of Big Flats

No registration required.

Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman and Major Gifts Officer Kurt Anderson will lead participants on a 5.5 mile hike through the Land Trust’s largest conservation area. Jason and Kurt will discuss the history of the preserve and the Land Trust’s role in acquiring it as well as its flora and fauna. This hike will include an initial steep climb to the top of the preserve.

From route 17/86 in Big Flats, take exit 49. Turn south from the exit ramp and go to Olcott Rd. At T intersection, turn right on Rt. 64 (unmarked), and right again on Rt. 352. Turn left on So. Corning Rd., then turn left into the DEC Fishing Access site, aka Bottchers Landing, just before the bridge which goes over the river.  Parking is limited at the preserve.  Carpooling from this site is needed to accommodate all attendees.

Except in the case of extreme weather, walks go rain or shine. Please check our Facebook page or this web page for updates. Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
