30 for 30: Anniversary Hike at Steege Hill Nature Preserve

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Land Trust is hosting 10 hikes led by knowledgeable staff covering a total of 30 miles. Join us for one event, or attend all and hike 30 miles for 30 years! You can also complete the hike series on your own. Hikers who complete the 30 miles will receive a special gift from the Land Trust. Download a trail map here (PDF).

DESCRIPTION

Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman and Major Gifts Officer Kurt Anderson will lead participants on a 5.5 mile hike through the Land Trust’s largest conservation area. Jason and Kurt will discuss the history of the preserve and the Land Trust’s role in acquiring it as well as its flora and fauna. This hike will include an initial steep climb to the top of the preserve.

DIRECTIONS

From route 17/86 in Big Flats, take exit 49. Turn south from the exit ramp and go to Olcott Rd. At T intersection, turn right on Rt. 64 (unmarked), and right again on Rt. 352. Turn left on So. Corning Rd., then turn left into the DEC Fishing Access site, aka Bottchers Landing, just before the bridge which goes over the river.  Parking is limited at the preserve.  Carpooling from this site is needed to accommodate all attendees.
