DESCRIPTION

Nature Preserve Manager Jason Gorman and founding board member Betsy Darlington will lead participants on a 3.4-mile hike through the 285-acre Logan Hill Preserve, which features diverse habitats for wildlife and stunning views of the hillsides of the Southern Tier. Betsy and her husband Dick generously donated the 285 acres to the Land Trust in February of 2015. Jason and Betsy will discuss the history of the preserve as well as its flora and fauna.

DIRECTIONS

From Ithaca, take Rt. 96B south towards Danby and drive approximately 18 miles to Candor. At the first gas station in Candor, turn right on Mill St., cross the creek, and turn left at the T intersection onto Rt. 96 – Main St. After passing Candor Central School on the left, turn left into the United Health Services parking lot at 54 Main St. Land Trust volunteers will determine, based on the number of attendees, if a carpool to the preserve is necessary. The parking area of the preserve cannot accommodate more than ten cars.

POLICIES

Except in the case of extreme weather, walks go rain or shine. Please check our Facebook page or this web page for updates. Please refrain from bringing dogs as they may impede the observation of wildlife.
