DESCRIPTION
Learn how to identify some of our native trees as we celebrate the Wesley Hill Nature Preserve’s induction into the Old-Growth Forest Network (OGFN). The mission of the OGFN is to connect people with nature by creating a national network of protected, mature, publicly accessible, native forests.
To celebrate this recognition, there will be a brief ceremony with remarks by staff from the FLLT and Old-Growth Forest Network followed by a tree identification walk led by Cody Wilkes, Forester in the Conservation Department at Finger Lakes Community College, and Jason Gorman, FLLT Nature Preserve Manager.
One of the Finger Lakes Land Trust’s largest conservation areas, the Wesley Hill Preserve provides excellent examples of the area’s ecological systems with diverse stands of mature forest including white pine, Eastern hemlock, and white oak.
The event is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be provided.
