DESCRIPTION

Join the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association for a fun day of outdoor exploration at Muller Field Station! Guests are welcome to rotate through several engaging activities including a canoe paddle, aquatic insect sampling, and an educational walk along the Honeoye Inlet. Each activity should last about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Guests can choose to spend part of their morning canoeing the inlet with environmental educators looking for signs and sounds of wildlife. Evidence of beaver and river otter are frequently spotted, along with many native birds and plants. This paddle is great for beginners, and all equipment including life jackets will be provided. Feel free to bring binoculars!

Explore life under the water with a close-up view of aquatic insects. Nets, observation containers, magnifying glasses, and identification guides will be available for examining samples from the pond. A laid-back and fun hands-on activity for all ages.

Guests are also invited to enjoy a walk along the inlet channel. This is a great opportunity to get a closer look at the wetland plant communities that are present, and also use observational senses to scout for birds and animal sign. The mowed and well-maintained trail is easily navigable, but may be slightly wet or muddy under certain conditions; appropriate footwear is encouraged.
