Jason Dombroskie, Manager of the Cornell University Insect Collection and Coordinator of the Insect Diagnostic Lab, will lead this family-friendly event on how to find, photograph, and identify insects and other invertebrates. Having your own camera or mobile phone with the iNaturalist app is recommended but not required. Kids age 4 and older are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

From Ithaca, take Rt. 13 North towards Dryden. Go approx. 12 miles and turn right on Irish Settlement Rd. Continue on Irish Settlement approx. 4 miles to find the NORTH parking area–where the boardwalk is–on the left (approx. 0.5 mile after Hammond Hill Rd). Continue approx one more mile down Irish Settlement Rd to find the SOUTH parking area just after Goodband Rd. Please do not park on Goodband Road.

Bioblitz is free to participate but donations are welcomed. General donations may be made, or please let the FLLT know if you would like to make a pledge of any amount per species by contacting us at or (607) 275-9487. The total species count will be tallied on iNaturalist. Gifts can be made online—please click the box that says “This gift is in honor or memory of someone” and type in: 2022 Bioblitz.
