DESCRIPTION

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Land Trust’s Emerald Necklace project, naturalist and longtime volunteer Betsy Darlington will lead a tree identification walk designed especially for kids! Located just east of Ithaca, the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve features mature forest and is a great place for kids to explore.

The Emerald Necklace is an ambitious effort to conserve an uninterrupted green corridor extending through 50,000 acres of conserved land from Finger Lakes National Forest in the west to Hammond Hill and Yellow Barn State Forests in the east.  Through this project, the Land Trust and a variety of public and private sector partners are working together to protect open space, public drinking water and wildlife habitat.

We’ll be celebrating the Emerald Necklace all week long!  Join us for happy hour, a volunteer work day, or a morning bird walk!

DIRECTIONS

From Ithaca, follow Ellis Hollow Road 2.5 miles past East Hill Shopping Plaza. Turn left on Genung Road, then right on Ellis Hollow Creek Road. Preserve entrance is located 0.2 miles past intersection, on left side of road.
