Why did you choose to conserve your land?  What motivated you?

I really like the idea that this little oasis will remain essentially as is forever.  I like the thought that whoever is fortunate enough to wander through here in the future will have this unique piece of the earth to enjoy, unspoiled by development.

How did you conserve your land?

I worked with the Land Trust to place a conservation easement on my property.

What makes your land so special to you?

Trees are an important part of my life, and this property has some pretty nice specimens that have intrinsic value to me.  There are a wide variety of native hardwoods and conifers like red, white and black oak, shagbark and pignut hickory, tulip poplar and sugar and red maple as well as pitch pine, and soaring white pines and hemlocks. The gullies are amazing and make this small piece of property seem like there are endless places to explore.

Anything else you would like to add?

I am grateful for the beauty of the Finger Lakes and thank the Finger Lakes Land Trust for helping preserve what we have here.
