In 2006, the Board of Directors inaugurated the Aldo Leopold Society in an effort to raise significant unrestricted support for the conservation work of the Land Trust.  Aldo Leopold Society gifts help the Land Trust protect more of the lands and waters that make the Finger Lakes such an amazing place to live and visit.

The Society is named for the father of Carl Leopold, Founding President of the Finger Lakes Land Trust.  Aldo Leopold was an ecologist, forester and environmentalist who developed the philosophy of the land ethic and believed deeply in conservation.

“That land is a community is the basic concept of ecology, but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics.” -Aldo Leopold
