06/02/2011Constellation Brands, Inc., the world’s leading premium wine company, and the Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) announced today the wine company’s donation of approximately 66 acres of former vineyard lands to the FLLT. The land is located adjacent to New York State’s High Tor Wildlife Management Area at the south end of Canandaigua Lake. This area is also designated as an “Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society. “Constellation Brands is very pleased to donate this beautiful parcel of land to the FLLT,” said Rob Sands, president and chief executive officer, Constellation Brands. “This land will provide nature admirers with additional areas to enjoy the natural majesty of the Finger Lakes.”
The FLLT is a non-profit organization based in Ithaca, N.Y. that works with landowners and local communities to conserve lands that define the character of the Finger Lakes region. To date, it has protected more than 12,000 acres of the region’s wetlands, forests, farmland, grasslands and gorges.
“These treasured lands will be protected for our children and generations to come,” said Andrew Zepp, executive director, FLLT. “We’re grateful to Constellation Brands for this wonderful gift to the community.”
